During a recent conversation with my youngest daughter, she told me that if she gets married, she would only choose a photographer if she could meet them in person, or at least talk to them on the phone.

I told her I agree with her — choosing who will photograph your wedding is basically like inviting a stranger into your inner circle, so you should choose someone based on their approach and style, but also on whether or not you get along with them.

What I do as a wedding photographer is a deeply personal process for me.

I get to know my clients well, so that on the wedding day, I’m essentially there as “a guest”.

This makes working together for relaxed, and the photographs show that connection and comfort level.

My approach is not for every couple, or for every wedding for that matter. For example, I no longer photograph large weddings at banquet halls. Most of the weddings I shoot are intimate, usually at one venue or location, and often with no more than 150 guests.

I always work alone, and I make it a point to attend the rehearsal with my camera as well. This lets me meet everyone, so that on the wedding day the entire process is easy and relaxed.

Every wedding I photograph is completely unique from the last. As a result, the photographs I make at your wedding won’t look like anyone else’s. I never repeat myself creatively or use a template cookie cutter approach to this work.

Lastly, I’d like to talk about your privacy, and my use of the work I make for you.

I’ll say it as clearly as I can — these photos are for you and your family. That’s it. Once you have them, you can do as you wish with them, and show them wherever you like.

I’m not a wedding photographer to create content for my own social media, or to win “awards” with them.

I don’t pump your work onto Instagram, or any other platform for that matter. If you let me, I’ll show some photos on my site, but you get to decide if I can do that or not.

I’m there in service to you — not me.

I’ve done this for a long time. For about as long as I’ve been married — just over 21 years. I’ve photographed several hundred weddings, for couples representing a wide range of cultures and traditions.

I live outside of the city with my wife and our two daughters, and most of the weddings I photograph are within Southern Ontario.

Before you inquire about having me photograph your wedding, here are some questions I’m almost always asked.

“How much does it cost to hire you?”

Hiring a professional isn’t cheap, but I also know I’m not the most expensive photographer available.

My Creative Fee varies from one wedding to another based on the location, duration, deliverables and time of year, but most couples spend between 5-12k.

I’m also flexible and can often work within your budget to provide you with some options. Don’t be shy — if your expected budget is lower, and you’re still interested in hiring me, reach out to me anyway.

“Where do you photograph weddings?”

I mostly photograph weddings in the Toronto area at either private residences, or at one of the many luxury hotels and wedding venues. I also regularly photograph weddings held at private cottages in Muskoka.

I still photograph a few weddings in Europe, mostly Italy, France and Greece, and I’ve been as far Japan for a few days to photograph a traditional Shinto wedding ceremony.

“How many weddings do you shoot?”

I try to keep this number low so that I can put my full attention to the work. That sweet spot is about ten weddings each wedding season. I have a few dates open in the Fall of 2026, and I’m reviewing inquiries now for Spring and Summer 2027.
